That was my Spanglish attempt at making an Earth, Wind & Fire joke. It's okay- it wasn't really that funny.
I opened for Earth, Wind, & Fire last night at the Mountain Winery. It was an extremely last-minute booking (got the call at 2pm) and what complicated matters was that I actually took yesterday off! Monday night I felt like CRAP (shakes, sweats, etc) so I called in sick for Tuesday. Guess who was at the show last night? MY BOSS. I of course called him as soon as I got the booking to make sure he was okay with it. But today, I feel like a royal douchebag.
Anyway, the concert itself was GREAT! The band was amazing; it was so nice to see everyone getting up and dancing, and just letting go. The comedy was...challenging. I basically played to an empty house. Most people were getting their drink on. (I can't blame them.) But, as a comic, it was hard. It's like trying to convince someone you're worthy....they stare at you blankly, they want to care, they just don't. Oh well. At least the band and staff enjoyed themselves. :)
In other news....SUPER stoked for Conan's new show "Conan" premiering on TBS November 8th. Also saw Michael Douglas was on the cover of People Magazine this week. Have I ever told you how in love with him I am? I don't care how old he is. He will always be Jack T. Colton to me. I wish him health and a speedy recovery.....
More soon.....:)
In Defense of the Mountain Winery (8.26.10)
Hi All,
I feel compelled to write something regarding the tragic event that happened a week ago at the Mountain Winery. In case you are unaware, last Thursday, a man jumped from the roof of the Mountain Winery and (in short terms) killed himself. This was WHILE the headlining band, "The Swell Season" was on-stage. The victim fell right next to the lead singer and was pronounced dead on the scene.
This is horrific and sad. Having performed there just 4 days before that happened, I want to express my sincerest condolensces to the staff, audience members, band, and anyone else affected by this. The Swell Season, despite being traumatized themselves, have offered to pay for 4 group counseling sessions at Kara in Palo Alto. (they start tonight.) Click HERE to read more about this.
On a personal note....I've heard murmurings of how people are now scared to go to the Mountain Winery because of this, and bands are afraid to play there. Lest me assure you, this event had NOTHING to do with the Mountain Winery. It is a beautiful venue and the staff is amazing. I can understand the need for "space" due to trauma and the need to heal. But don't let this stop you from going there. It's sad to say, but this could have happened anywhere. It just happened to be there. So, continue to enjoy concerts there, kay?
Here's pics of my performance opening up for Rob Thomas at the Mountain Winery a couple weeks ago.
Be well,
I CAN BE HUMAN AGAIN! (8.23.10)
Pardon the use of all caps.
I'm just excited. I FINALLY have a break from comedy! Not that I'm complaining. I've had some amazing gigs lately and I'm super grateful. But I'm TIRED. (14 shows in 16 days?) So, for a couple of weeks, I'm going to be a human again. Meaning.....eating healthier, running and working out, and getting back to my "human" side. Which I've really missed lately! Have you ever felt like that? Super busy, but not feeling productive?
I'm running the Rock 'n Roll 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, October 3rd. Are you??? This was my first 1/2 marathon 3 years ago....I literally trained 2 DAYS. Yes, 2 days. Two 45-minute sessions on the eliptical and I thought I'd be cool to walk the whole thing. I wasn't. I was DEAD afterwards. Everything hurt. So, make sure you train! Even if you're going to walk it. All the info is on our homepage.
Btw, CONGRATS to Laura Knott of San Jose! She's the first winner this week of Bill and Marla's "$1,000 Back To School Shopping Cash" every weekday morning at 8:50am.
Oh, and here's a pic from this weekend at Cobbs Comedy Club. I worked with John Fugelsang and Hal Sparks. Great people, super smart. Made me feel like I need to work harder. But, right now, I just want to take a nap.
Eat, Pray, Love.....and Comedy. (8.19.10)
I just saw "Eat, Pray, Love."
I wasn't sure how to feel going into it. I haven't read the book, and to be honest with you, most of the reviews of the movie have been bad. But.....I actually loved it! For 3 reasons:
1) It got me out of my head. (I've been all kinds of stressed lately)
2) The scenery was BEAUTIFUL, and I loved the soundtrack. (I love world music)
3) James Franco is a hot, hot piece of ass.
I know all the chicks probably went for Javier Bardem. Not me. James Franco has had my heart since I first saw him in "Pineapple Express." (And I'm not even a stoner!) I went with a good friend to the movie, and we both, for various reasons, were crying throughout the whole thing. It was like PMS x infinity. I needed a box of chocolates. My favorite part was when I turned to my friend and said, "I don't even know who I am anymore." She goes, "Me either!" Then she let me know she was questioning her boyfriend, and if she went to Italy, she'd take the dog before him since she "is positive" she loves the dog. Just hilarious!!!
If you need to laugh this weekend.....I'm performing at Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco TONIGHT through Sunday with Hal Sparks! Super cool dude. Our shows are: Thursday 8pm, Friday 8pm & 10:15pm, Saturday 8pm & 10:15pm, and Sunday 8pm. See you there!
FREE MONEY! Oh, and don't forget to listen to Bill and Marla at 8:50am every morning next week. They're giving away $1,000 shopping cash every day!
More soon.....
Rob Thomas is THE MAN. Y Mas! (8.17.10)
Hey there!
Hope you're doing well. I was going to write a blog all about the Rob Thomas show yesterday, but in all honesty, I was lazy.
Show was GREAT. Packed. Sold out, in fact. (I think 2500 people or so?) I was extremely fortunate and was able to do "open" for Rob Thomas with 25 minutes of CLEAN comedy before he came on stage. Do you know how hard it is for me to not swear AND not have any sexual content or innuendo in my act? REALLY HARD. But, I did it. This was a great gig for me. It helped me grow as a comedian, edit, and think outside my sometimes-profanity-ridden-box. Oh- and I got to meet Rob Thomas! Here's pics from the show!
John Mayer Alert! Remember to listen to Bill and Marla tommorow morning (8/18) at 8AM to see who's getting front row seats AND meet'n greets with John Mayer THIS FRIDAY at Shoreline Amphitheatre!
In other news, I've eaten WAY too much lately. Hittin' the gym today then Lady Gaga tonight.....OH SNAP!
Some Weeks Are A Wash. (8.13.10)
You know, some weeks are a wash.
You have plans. Goals. Things you need to do. But NOTHING gets accomplished, no matter how busy you are. That was this week for me. The majority of my brain has been thinking/focusing on creating a solid, clean 20-minute comedy set for Sunday. (I'm also a stand-up comic) Did you know I'm opening for Rob Thomas at the Mountain Winery? AWESOME opportunity, awesome gig. I'm thankful. But still; I'm nervous. I don't want to f*** it up. He's a cool dude, I like his music, and this is right in our back yard!
I tried doing a couple of gigs this week to work out some stage time. One was on Tuesday. Great crowd, but there was no way to be clean. (loud bar) Wednesday I went to a cafe/laundromat in SF (this is the reality of my career) and felt like it was a wash. The homeless lady doing "Snooki" impressions didn't help.
I didn't work out this week. I didn't cook healthy meals. The stage-time I got didn't feel like it was effective. UGHHHHHH. Oh well. Time to make the most of it! Here's my comedy schedule this weekend:
Today, Friday 13th: Fortino Winery's "Comedy Under the Stars" in Morgan Hill. Showtime: 8pm $25 Saturday, August 14th: "The Denial Show" - a LIVE Comedy-Game Show in SF! Comics and audience members battle out people, places and things taht are in "denial." Awesome prizes! Purple Onion, San Francisco. 8pm $20 Sunday, August 15th:Opening for Rob Thomas at the Mountain Winery! Exciting.
I hope you have a lovely weekend. I'll try and get cool pics at the Mtn Winery!
Steven Slater, I Salute You. (8.11.10)
I'm sure you've heard about Steven Slater. He's the Jet Blue employee who snapped this Monday after a customer purposely hit him on the head with an overhead bin. She was told she couldn't store luggage in the overhead compartment, causing her to yell profanities and then hit him on the head. So, he quit. But he quit in the most BEAUTIFUL way possible: he grabbed a beer, cussed her out on the intercom, slid down the emergency chute and drove home.
GOD BLESS THIS MAN!
Sure, he's in trouble now. And sure, there's talk of legalities and jailtime. (He cost Jet Blue $25,000 by deploying the emergency chute.) But right now, I want to focus on why so many of us had the proud, borderline envious reaction we did:
Because the customer ISN'T ALWAYS RIGHT.
I'm tired of doing "whatever it takes" to make the customer happy. We are willing to bend over backwards to the most outrageous complaints, the most ridiculous emails, the most embarrassing verbal encounters. For what? To make sure the customer's "happy?" But what about our values? Our integrity?
I've always loved walking into restaurants and small shops and seeing the sign "We Have the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone." I want to high-five the owners when I see that. I LOVE that. If I could, I'd wear that on my t-shirt. (And, my crotch, too.)
The reason this hit home with so many people isn't because secretly, we've all wanted to slide down the emergency chute. (Although that's part of it.) It's because we're all at a boiling point. We're tired of being afraid to say no. We've lost money, faith, and therefore: confidence. We're so worried about getting business/keeping business that we're willing to be bullied, as long as there's numbers. And thus; we've lost our backbone AND our nustack.
Look, I don't have all the answers. I don't have any, actually. What do I know? I spend most of my day in seclusion, Facebooking and teasing "California Gurls." All I know is I get it. I get the snapping. I get the losing it. And I'm glad he did it. I hope the woman who yelled at him and hit him feels like an idiot. I hope this opens people's eyes. I hope companies realize their employees need them on their side.
And mostly, I hope this is a good lesson to never, ever become our own bitch.
Trains + Wine = AWESOME. (8.9.10)
How was your weekend?
I actually had a great weekend. My comedy shows in SF were AWESOME. There was an 11-year old in the audience (which threw off all the comics) and I told her mom "When I was 11, I was playing with Barbies. Granted, I made them have sex, but still." Then went to Niles District yesterday and did their wine-train. SO AWESOME. And beautiful. I highly recommend it!
Dude, this month is concerts GALORE! American Idols Live, John Mayer (plus front row meet 'n greets) and Rob Thomas THIS Sunday! (Also front row meet 'n greets. And yours truly is doing 25 minutes of stand-up before he performs!) Make sure you're a Mix All-Access Club Member!!!
Okay, more soon.
MY HEAD HURTS. And oh- Happy Weekend! (8.6.10)
Word to the wise: don't mix your liquors!
I know, you've heard it before. And you know that. But does that mean you listen? NOPE! Case in point- I'm going on day #2 of a RIDICULOUS headache. Wednesday night my co-workers and I did a little wine-tasting....I had a couple glasses and then decided I was done with wine. So I had a mojito. Or 2. And a few sips of other people's. Somehow, champagne arrived. And then, I was drunk. Barely made it through yesterday. Today I'm feeling more "humanish" but head still hurts. So....be SMART this weekend. Having a 2-day headache is not worth it!
Omg, how amazing is this?I'll be opening for Rob Thomas on Sunday the 15th at the Mountain Winery! (Did you know I'm also a stand-up comedian?) I'm extremely honored, as Rob is a cool guy and I LOVE the Mountain Winery. As you know....we're STILL giving away FRONT ROW TICKETS and also MEET N GREETS as well! Make sure you've entered through the Mix All-Access Club.
And....we have other FRONT ROW/MEET 'N GREET shows this month: Dave Matthews Band (Shoreline, August 28th) and John Mayer! (Shoreline, August 20th) So make sure you've entered through the Mix All Access Club!
Okay...that's it for now. If you're in SF this weekend, I'm headlining "5 Funny Females" at the Purple Onion TONIGHT 8pm, and featuring at "Naked Comedy" (just a funny name, no nudity) at the SFCC Clubhouse this Saturday at 9pm. I hate Myspace but my comedy calendar is on there.
Have a great weekend!
Florida: Why Would Anyone Live There?
I'm so glad to be home.
It's Tuesday- yesterday I returned from a "fun" trip in Florida. To be fair, it actually was "fun." I had a great time with my friend (once we left Apopka, where she lives, and went to Clearwater for some fun in the sun!) butFlorida in general really depresses me. If you're from there.....I'm sorry. If you live there.....I'm sorry. Some PROS:
I won a BOATLOAD of money at a casino. (on a 5 cent slot!)
Weather was beautiful and the beach was nice. Great sunsets too!
EVERYTHING ELSE. I mean it. The humidity, the lack of mountains and landscapes, the thunder and lightning....I flew home IN A LIGHTNING storm and pretty much sh*t my pants the entire time! But.....I'm home. Finally.
OMG! Thank you so so much for your emails regarding Rob Thomas.......you know he's coming to the Mountain Winery on Sunday, August 15th, right? And you know we have front row seats AND meet 'n greets, right? Make sure you're a Mix All Access Club Member.....that's the first step. Also, my email is Sandy@kezr.com
Okay, that's the latest.....more later.
Chelsea Handler and Rob Thomas FRONT ROW! (7.28.10)
Honestly, is there anything better than sitting in the front row of your favorite concert?
I'll admit: I've never sat in the front row- ever. Well, unless you count the 4 concerts I attended last August in Corsica of my favorite band, I Muvrini. (I LOVE world music) But I'm trying to find a reference you would actually know.....
I DID work with Chelsea Handleronce, at the San Jose Improv. Dude, she drank a bottle of vodka and sugar-free Redbull a night. I don't know how she does it. I start slurring after 1/2 glass of wine! But she went out there and rocked it for an hour and then signed autographs. Well, she's back at the Mountain Winery on Saturday, August 7th!
And.....Rob Thomas will also be at the Mountain Winery on Sunday, August 15th! He's super cool. He helped a Mix listener propose to his girlfriend at our private Mixer with him last year. We've got FRONT ROW tickets to Chelsea Handler and Rob Thomas, so make sure you sign up through the Mix All-Access Club ASAP!
Also....I'm leaving for Florida tonight for a few days.....gonna see a good friend of mine and just be girls for a while. (You know- wine, tan, beach, more wine, sushi, etc.) I'll leave you with the HIGH I'm still on from interviewing Adam Lambert at the Warfield in San Francisco last Friday.....Have a great weekend!
BEST. CONCERT. EVER. (7.26.10)
Omg, Adam Lambert's concert was so amazing!
I went to see him at the Warfield in SF on Friday. BEST show I'd been to in a long time. Super sexy, super glam, and just fun.I felt like I needed a cigarette after. My favorite songs of the night were "Fever" and his version of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. What's your favorite concert of all time?
NEED A LAUGH? Chelsea Handler (of "Chelsea Lately") is coming to the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on Saturday, August 7th! Make sure you've signed up through the Mix All-Access Club. Become a member on our homepage.
ADAM LAMBERT INTERVIEW! I was fortunate enough to get an on-camera interview with him Friday before his show. Here's
the video:
Getting GLAMorous. (7.22.10)
The countdown is on!
Okay- Adam Lambert's show at the Warfield in SF on Sunday is SOLD-OUTand we're not only getting you in, but getting you meet 'n greets as well! Make sure you sign in to the Mix All Access Club within the next 24 hours for your chance!

COMEDY!I'll be headlining the "5 Funny Females" national tour at the Purple Onion in San Francisco on Friday, August 6th. HERE is a funny promo video my friend and I made for it, along with PHOTOS from Amish Country a couple weeks ago!
Okay, more soon. Have a great weekend!
Back to the Grind..... (7.19.10)
Good Monday Morning,
How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? I saw "Inception" on Saturday and LOVED it!!!! It was so brilliant I couldn't believe someone actually thought it up. Might see it again later this week. Mainly because I was sooooo tired when I saw it that I feel I cheated myself from fully enjoying it.
TWO SHOWS THIS WEEK! As you know, Adam Lambert and Orianthi are coming to town. They'll be at 2 SOLD OUT shows this Friday (July 23rd) and Sunday (July 25th) at the Warefield. Make sure you're a Mix All Access Club Member because not only can you see Orianthi in a PRIVATE Mixer this Friday afternoon, but also meet Adam Lambert before his show on Sunday!
Also.....have you ever been to Psycho Donuts in Campbell? Dude, you MUST. Crazy donuts, awesome people. I'll have a video up soon about it!
More soon,
YAY weekend!
It's Friday. Don't you love that?
Hope you had a good week. I tried Zumba for the first time on Wednesday and LOVED it! (type of dance/work-out class.) Do you have a certain work out class that you love? DO TELL! Sandy@kezr.com.
LIVE BROADCAST THIS SUNDAY! I'll be out this Sunday from 12pm-4pm at the Connoisseur's Marketplace in Menlo Park. So shop, drink wine, wear sunscreen, and come say hi!
I know that was a weird blog title. But all this Adam Lambert talk has me thinking about trannies. Case in point: a couple years ago, my girlfriends and I went up to Asia SF in San Francisco. Asia SF is a bar/restaurant, and all the beautiful "ladies" there are actually dudes! Every half hour they dance "cat-walk" style on top of the bar. It was SO much fun. The worst part was when I saw the pictures we took with them.....THEY WERE PRETTIER THAN ME! Their skin, their hair, their bodies were way more in shape.....LOL!
Either way, don't forget the 25th of July is coming up.....so make sure you register through the Mix All-Access Club to see (and meet!) Adam Lambert that night at the Warefield in SF!!
I will leave you now with the cutest PUPPY IN A CUP picture!
Chat soon,
Amish Paradise! (7.8.10)
Hello, my dear!
God, don't you love short work weeks? I actually got back to work yesterday as I took a 5-day vacation to Philly, Amish Country, and New York City. Short, but wonderful. EXCEPT for the heat-wave. (102 degree heat PLUS humidity? UGH.) However, I must must MUST share with you this hilarious video my friend and I made in Amish Country, dressed as traditional Amish women! We also went to a Smorgasboard and ate WAY too much, as usual.
DON'T FORGET! Tomorrow morning at 10am (Friday) we're announcing our last and FINAL winner in the Disneyland getaway.....that's a trip for 4, R/T airfaire, hotel, and 3-day park hopper passes. Make sure you've signed up via the Mix All-Access club, and BE LISTENING!
Hope to see you tonight at Music in the Park! With Tonic and Green River Ordinance....super cool guys. Show starts at 5:30, usually ends around 9. Plaza De Cesar Chavez Park, San Jose.

Booooooonjour!
I hope you had a good weekend. It was SUPER hot yesterday, wasn't it? I tried to tan in my backyard but ended up sweating off all my sunscreen AND getting 2 spider bites on my feet. Gross.
Wanna meet some hot dudes? Be listening from 9a-2p this week, because we are giving away meet-n-greets for Music in the Park on July 8th! Featuring Tonic and Green River Ordinance.

You call her a "ladyfriend?"Over the weekend I heard a man refer to a woman as his "ladyfriend." Guys....that's very cute. But rest assured, we all know you're sleeping with her. LOL!
Okay, more soon.....I'm on Facebook too. Just look up "Sandy-Middays on Mix."
Love,
The word "Ma'am" should be BANNED! (6.22.10)
Every woman has a moment like this.
You're going about your day, everything is status-quo...and then someone calls you, "Ma'am." Doesn't it suck? Now, in some people's defense, they're just trying to be polite. And I understand that. I know it's not intentional, or personal. But man, there is something about the word "ma'am" that just makes us feel old, no matter WHAT age we are. (in fact, the woman who called me 'ma'am' at Peets today was probably only 5 or so years younger than me.) And, according to my Facebook feedback, you agree!
CALLING ALL TWI-HARDS! (I can't believe I just used that phrase.) Come see "Eclipse" with me (and fellow Twilight junkies) next Tuesday, June 29th at 11:59pm (midnight) at Camera 7 Pruneyard in Campbell! Just be listening in the NOON HOUR this week for Twilight trivia to get you and a guest in. :)
Have you seen Toy Story 3yet? I recently worked with Jeff Garlin (who plays "Buttercup the Unicorn") in the movie. You've also seen him in "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Here is our interview video. (warning: a few F-bombs towards the end.)
Okay, more soon. :o)

New Year, New Beginnings (1.11.10)
Hello, and Happy New Year!
Yes, I haven't blogged in months. And I probably won't blog for another few months. It's not that I'm lazy. It's that I do most of my daily blogging/rants/picture-uploading on Facebook. Are we friends yet? Just click on the Facebook logo (above) to go to my page. Or, just look up "Sandy- Middays on Mix" and you'll find me that way too.

Juste Pour Rire.....(Just for Laughs) 9.16.09
Yes, that was lame attempt at French!
Ever since coming home from Corsica, I've realized how much I want to learn and speak French. I made a few friends on the island, and we still write back and forth. The problem? It's all in French. Thank GOD for Google Translator! Sometimes I wish I could just quit everything, move somewhere abroad, and learn a new language. But then I think....."Oh yeah. I have bills to pay." LOL!
Anyway........this is just my quick way of "checking in." I don't update this blog regularly as I'm on Facebook every day, and most of the action happens there. :o) Here's some of the topics we've discussed lately:
* Songs that make us feel sexy. (Mine is a Britney Spears song....I'm SO embarassed)
* Our favorite pastries at Starbucks
* Mean things people say to us (I actually copied and pasted a HATE-MAIL I recieved!)
I also post lots of videos on my FB page.....but "juste pour rire" I'm posting a few of my favorites below. Enjoy! Oh, and you can always contact me at: Sandy@kezr.com. Thank you and have a GREAT day!

Hello my little muffin!
I regret to inform you that I will not be able to blog as much as I used to....(Okay, I know I didn't blog that much in the first place.) See, all the jocks have a Facebook now, and between Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, and my other 2 websites, I'm EXHAUSTED! In fact- I'd love to know how many different social networking sites you're a member of. Let me know at Sandy@kezr.com.
So.....are we Facebook friends yet? Click the link above, or type in "Sandy-Middays on Mix" and you will find me! It's just easier and more interactive. And beneficial! (I gave away Dane Cook tickets on Facebook last week.) Plus you know writing on a wall is way more fun than sending an email!
TEAM IN TRAINING UPDATE: As you know, I am training for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 19th, 2009. My goal is to raise $2,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I'm so proud to say...thanks to your awesome support, I've already raised $779! And our season officially kicks off this Saturday! WAY cool. In the meantime, here is another video I've made about my training process. (I'm way self-conscious about it, but oh well.)

Mother's Day, and Why I'm Fat. (5.11.09)
Happy (late) Mother's Day!
I thought I would post these pictures of something that, sadly, is a tradition in our family. We have been eating these apple turnovers (stuffed with cream!) from Peter's Bakery in Alum Rock for years.....and yesterday was no exception. The WORST part is that my dad bought these for breakfast- and we later went to brunch at noon! I can't believe I'm sharing this with you. Please don't judge me. I am already judging myself enough!
Okay, off to grill some chicken and vegetables and run a few miles.......
Love,
Gambling, Mother's Day, and Simply Beautiful Body Wraps! (5.4.09)
Hello there!
How are you? (I know- it's Monday. Why even bother asking?) Despite being a smidgen broke, I had a good weekend. It was my friend's birthday and we went to two casinos over the weekend! Sooo fun. What is your game of choice? Do you like the tables, or the slots? Me- I'm kind of a nickel-slot-hoping-for-15-free-games kinda gal. But I've warmed up to blackjack and Pai Gow too. Send me your gamblin' stories (any jackpots?) to: Sandy@kezr.com
So....Mother's Day is THIS SUNDAY. Good news for you: we're giving away Simply Beautiful Body wraps all week long! So, here's how you can win a wrap. Send an email to Sandy@kezr.com and :

Hi there. :o)
Hope you had a fantastic weekend. It's amazing that, 1 week ago today, it was 35 degrees hotter outside. This is too inconsistent. Doesn't Mother Nature know we need to plan our outfits, and this makes it REALLY difficult?
Mother's Day is coming up.....I'll be doing "Thank you, Mom" shout-outs from May 1st-10th on-air. Send me an email about why your mom's awesome at: Sandy@kezr.com!
Also...all week long, we're giving tickets away to the "Best of San Francisco" Comedy Competition. The opening night is this Friday, May 1st, at the Faultline Brewing Company in Sunnyvale. I'll be emcee-ing the show.

It's Friday! (4.17.09)
Happy Friday!!
I hope you enjoy the FABULOUS weather this weekend....it's supposed to be in the 80's on Sunday!

In other news.....I will begin training for the Nike Women's Marthon in San Francisco VERY soon! (It's on October 18th, 2009.) I'm totally excited- it's for a wonderful cause. And, just for laughs.....as you know, I just got back from Las Vegas. I performed a week (stand-up comedy) at the Riviera. I had several "revelations" while in Vegas, that I've conveniently called"7 Things I Learned in Las Vegas." Enjoy!
Holy Crap!! (3.10.09)
Dude!
How cool is this? My name was on the marquee was I was performing at the Riviera last week! (in Vegas) I HAD to take a picture of it!
So yeah.....I'm back. With less money than before, but the experience was priceless and I had a great time. I'm making a video blog of the "7 Things I Learned in Vegas"....I'll be sure to post it soon! Curious about those "body wraps" I always talk about? I've got a slender tone body wrap from Simply Beautiful for you every day this week! Just listen weekdays from 9-2 and I'll let you know when to tune in and win!
Also....wanted tothank Becky Marshack for this ADORABLE picture of her weinerdogs!!!! It's no secret I love them...so if you've got cute pictures, send 'em in. Heck, ANY puppy pics will do. :o)

Viva Las Vegas.....(02.26.09)
Wazzzzzzup.
It's the end of February. Where did the first two months of this year go?!?
I feel a smidgen guilty writing to you right now, as I'll be out of town all next week. I'm going to Las Vegas to perform at the Riviera! (stand-up comedy) You know what's sad? I'm actually really excited to be able to eat in the employee cafeteria whenerver I want to. I think it's the fact that I'll be an "employee" that sounds exciting. But, anyway, if you know anyone in the area, here are the details:
Riviera Comedy Club, Las Vegas
Monday, March 2nd-Sunday, March 8th
2 shows a night: 8:30pm and 10:30pm
Info HERE
So....in the theme of Las Vegas.....I'd LOVE to hear some crazy Vegas stories of yours! How much money did you lose? Who did you meet? Did you get married and divorced within 24 hours? And I KNOW you have some good drunk stories!! E-mail me at: Sandy@kezr.com! (I can make you "anonymous" on the air if you want) Hopefully I'll have some good ones for you when I get back too!
And....if you need a laugh.....I FINALLY finished editing footage from the Exotic Erotic Ball from last year. (October) I was there as an on-camera "interviewer." This is technically "work-safe" but the subject matter is kind of skanky, so watch with discretion. Enjoy!
Lastly....since "Dancing with the Stars" is premiering very soon, I thought you would enjoy this on-camera interview I did with one of the dancers this season- comedian David Alan Grier!
Hugs, Kisses, and Blackjack.....
Movies, Body Wraps, and More! (02.09.09)
Hello, dear reader. :o)
Okay, I know I should talk about the Grammy's right now, but .....what did you think of He's Just Not That Into You? Laurie Free (afternoons) and I went to see it yesterday. We were both excited. I LOVE Greg Behrent (he's the author of the book whom I performed with at Cobbs Comedy Club last year), and I loved the books/premise. But the movie itself? Pretty lack luster. It was just too sporatic, no on-screen character chemistry. Jennifer Connelly and Drew Barrymore were annoying. It was AWESOME seeing my dear boyfriend-to-be, Justin Long, though. Overall, I'd have to say my favorite part was the ONION-RING TOWER FROM RED ROBIN Laurie Free and I shared beforehand.
Okay, AWESOME VALENTINE'S DAY GIFT IDEA!I'm giving away Simply Beautiful Body Wraps (from Simply Beautiful) all week long! You know, the wraps that help you lose 10-30 inches in one hour? The wraps that women LOVE? So, here's what you need to do: nominate somebody special in your life.Tell me why they're special to you. Why do they deserve a body wrap? E-mail me at : Sandy@kezr.com, and I will choose 1 winner every day and announcing their name and their nominee's name at 1pm! Journey Fan?If you are, you already know that they have a new AMAZING lead singer named Arnel Pineda. (out of the Philippines, and discovered on youtube BY Journey!) Here's a quick video of me chatting with him a few weeks ago. What a sweetheart!
Okay, that's all for now. Kisses!!
Superbowl AFTERMATH (02.02.09)
Steelers 27, Cardinals 23. Are you happy? Sad? Out of money? Truth be told, I had 5 cocktails, so I was rooting for whoever won. (Stoli Vanilla makes football really interesting!)
Marla Davies (morning show) is a HUGE Steelers fan. Needless to say, today she was ALL decked out. We're talking Steelers jersey, official Steelers socks, Steelers purse, and she even brought in takling Steeler's dolls! (creepy.) So, this has inspired me to ask YOU for your crazy fan pics! I'm sure someone get all decked out at a party yesterday.....send 'em in! Sandy@kezr.com
Bruce Springsteen's half-time performance was pretty hot, wasn't it? Speaking of....you know he's coming to the HP Pavilion on April 1st, right? You can win tickets if you're a Mix All-Access Club member! If not, just sign up on our homepage. (We're also getting you into other shows like the Killers, Britney Spears, Chelsea Handler.....)
I'm sad I didn't see Journey perform during the Superbowl, though. BUT.....I did have the pleasure of meeting Arnel Pineda (their new, amazing lead singer) last week. Here's our pic!

Oh, GIVE ME A BREAK! (1.27.09)
Have you ever made a joke that was taken WAY out of context?
I just got off the phone with a listener who was pretty annoyed at me. I made a tongue-in-cheek joke on-air about Queen Latifah's new inspirational book coming out this year. I said I probably wouldn't purchase it, but would scan through it the next time I'm in Border's. I made a comparison about how you go to the movies and sometimes sneak into another theatre after your movie finishes. Anyway, she said,
"Pretty interesting you love stealing!"
"What?" I said.
"You just mentioned two different forms of stealing." She said.
"Oh, you can't tell me haven't scanned books at Borders and not purchased them." I said.
"Scan, yes, but reading the whole thing? Have you ever heard of COPYWRITING?" She asked.
"Yes, but I'd never actually read the whole book. I was just making a joke!"
"Yeah, sure" she said.
"And for the record, I haven't snuck into a movie since I was like 15" I said.
"Enjoy your stealing!" CLICK.
UGH. My head hurts.
Let's talk about other important things. Like Jessica Simpson's "ever-expanding ass." Come on- do you really think she looks bad? I don't. I think those jeans were the worst possible choice for her, but I certainly don't think she looks fat! Do you?
SUPERBOWL TRIVIA!! What is your favorite part of the Superbowl?
1) the snacks!
2) the commercials
3) the actual game
4) other
I'll leave you off with this awkward John Mayer video. Seriously- what the hell?
Merry Christmas! (12.22.2008)
Well hello there, dear reader/Mix listener/peron-who's-trying-to-avoid-work,
Thanks for stopping by. :o) Happy Holidays! And yes- Merry Christmas. There- I said it. I'm not going to apologize for saying it, either. I'd rather be authentic than be scared of losing "mass appeal." This is a real problem with the media....they've got us all paranoid. So instead of being yourself, and simply saying "Merry Christmas" to someone, you have to worry that you're offending someone or "leaving someone out." It's ridiculous. Tensions are already high enough during the holidays....now I have to worry I don't have the right salutation?
My point is.....it doesn't matter what you celebrate. The lessons this time of year are the same: reflection, gratitude, and compassion. So, no matter who you are or where you are, I hope you are surrounded by love, positive energy, and growth. (I need to come out with a New-Age line of greeting cards, I swear.)
Thanks MUCH to Trisha Leeper for this FANTASTIC shot of the Mix jocks from our "Very Merry Mixer."
And....since none of us are really "working" this week, I've decided to post of bunch of youtube videos. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
Here I am, interviewing actor Bruce Campbell about his new movie "My Name is Bruce."
Todd Wilbur is the coolest guy on the planet. HE CLONES A TWINKIE! For reals, yo!.....
And finally, there is NOTHING better than an out-of-tune Christmas song. Especially if it's Mariah Carey!
With love,
A Belated Blog.....(11.17.08)
I feel like I start out every blog with "Sorry I haven't written in so long....." This blog is no exception. Sorry!
So many things going on......the Holiday season has officially started. The malls are PACKED, the e-vites are coming, we can't escape it. The good news is....on Wednesday we'll be making a BIG announcement about a special Christmas show we're having mid-December. Super stoked!
Did you happen to see Saturday Night Live this weekend? Justin Timberlake was HILARIOUS. Click HERE to see a really funny video of him performing as a back-up dancer with Beyonce.
Must not be a lot of fun if you're Madonna's kid. Did you see theLIST of things Guy Richie has to adhere to, regarding their kids? They're not allowed to watch TV or DVDs, they have to only drink Kabbalah water, eat organically, etc. So, my question for you is...what things are off-limits for your kids in your house?
Have you even gotten to meet someone you admired or looked up to? This weekend, I'm going to Carnegie Hall in New York to meet a band I have loved for years. (I Muvrini- of Corsica) I can't even tell you how excited I am. A couple months ago, I made a youtube video reaching out to them, speaking in French (which I learned just for the video) and sent it to them. All I wanted to do was meet them in person, and thank them for what they do. Well, it's happening. I am so glad I put myself out there, despite how scared I was to even go through with it.
Okay, gotta run, but, as promised, here's my mom's recipe for the MOSTDELICIOUS COOKIES YOU'LL EVER EAT:
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies (serves 20)
2 cups flour
1 cup quick or old-fashioned oats, uncooked
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup Libby's Solid Pack Pumpkin
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
assorted icing, peanut butter, candies,
raisins or nuts
Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Cream butter; gradually addsugars, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Alternate additions of dry ingredients and pumpkin, mixing well after each addition. Stir in morsels. For each cookie, drop 1/4 cup dough onto lightly greased cookie sheet; spread into pumpkin shape, using a thin spatula. Add a bit more dough to form stem. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until cookies are firm and lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheets; cool on racks. Decorate, using icing or peanut butter to affix assorted candies, raisins or nuts.
Variation: substitute 1 cup raisins for morsels.
Notes: I don't bother making cookies into pumpkin shapes; just flatten dough into rounds using bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Enjoy! These cookies are the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Embarassing Moment, and PUPPIES! (10.29.08)
How embarassing!I was in the elevator this morning, and two gentlemen were in there with me. " Are you guys winners?" I asked. "No- he's one of the Sharks." One said. They both laughed, so I couldn't tell if they were joking or not. And....I know NOTHING about hockey, so I wouldn't have known any better. Well, it turned out to be Devin Setoguchi, who was coming to play guitar and chat with Bill and Marla. GOOD LORD. Why does this always happen to me? Oh well. At least I was aware they won last night, and congratulated him. (???)
PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!! I asked, you delivered. Thank you so much for your following pet costume pics!
Thank you Rain, who just sent me this picture of her miniature weinerdog "Peanut."
Thank you Rhiannon, who sent me a picture of her 4 WEINERDOGS!!!! Emmie Lou is the oldest, in the skeleton costume. Then there's Minnie Pearl (as She Devil) and Chloe Ann (Lobster) who are one year old sisters. Lastly, Tillie Mae (the youngest, at 6 months) is the Dragon.
And, thank you Kealanie for this ADORABLE picture of her puppy, Tiny!
Thank you so much!! If you have a pet costume pic, send it in! Sandy@kezr.com.
Wine, anyone? Our private show with Colbie Caillat and Sarah McLachlan in Napa is fast approaching....make sure you've already entered via the Mix All Access Club..... :o)
And, if you need a laugh, here is a link to my EXOTIC EROTIC BALL photos from Saturday night. I was there doing on-camera interviews. (The photos are technically "work safe" but still a smidgen racey. Look with caution) Photography credit: Keith B. Dixon. www.KeithBDixon.com
TTYL,
Weekend Wrap-Up, and Cute Pets. (10.27.08)
So.....anything exciting happen this weekend? I, for the second year in a row, did on-camera interviews at the Exotic Erotic Ball. Most of the stuff I saw I can't even talk about on-air. But, I did meet a tranny who was prettier than I was, and a man who painted portraits....with his genetalia. (He did NOT get an on-camera interview) I don't have the video footage yet, but if you want to see a clip of last year's interviews, click HERE!
Many thanks to Mix listener Michelle, who sent in this cute pic of her dog Jakey as "Super Dog." If you have a cute picture of your pet in a Halloween Costume, send it in! (Bonus points for weinerdogs!!) Sandy@kezr.com
Curious to see what Cindy Crawford looks like dressed as Amy Winehouse? She just went to Kate Hudson's Halloween party over the weekend- you can see the pics HERE! (btw, thanks to Mix listeners Rosemarie and Stefanie who sent me this link!)
That's all for now.....more soon. Promise. :o)
Love,
My Marathon is Done, and YAY for the Weekend! (10.24.08)
First and foremost, happy Friday!
So.......the moment has finally come. Actually, it passed. The 2008 NIke Women's Marathon was on Sunday, and I ACTUALLY finished it! (Trust me- not by much.) If you'd like to read about my experience, I wrote a blog about it HERE.
Thank you to all the Mix Listeners who've called and written saying "congratulations".....it really means a lot to me.
Proof I finished!
Halloween is a week away! What are your plans? I honestly have ZERO going on, at the moment. However I was at the drugstore last night and saw the most ADORABLE PET COSTUMES! So if you have a sec, send me your Halloween pet pics! I'd love to post them. (Bonus points if you have a weinerdog....I have a weakness for those little guys.) Sandy@kezr.com

Alright, and since it's a Friday, I looooove leaving you with a funny video, so here ya go: the most recent Sarah Palin-John-McCain-President Bush spoof from SNL. (Seriously. They did this yesterday and Will Ferrell stopped by!) Have a great weekend!!
A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Breakroom....(10.15.08)
Holy crap- I'm so glad I waited to write this blog till later today, because I just witnessed theFUNNIEST thing in our breakroom!
Our breakroom fridgehas been overstuffed for MONTHS. There literally isn't even an inch of free space to put a can of soda....IT'S BAD. One of our shelves even broke! So, today, the receptionist HAD IT. And during her lunch break, she bravely cleaned out the whole thing. (with another co-worker) It- hands down- was the FUNNIEST thing I've ever seen.
"OMG! This one has FUR on it!" they said, holding on to a bag that was half meat, half mold. Their faces were a combination of hatred, disgust, and obvious fear. I don't blame them- they were bare-handed! Either way, THANK YOU Serena and Jenn, you brave souls, you. :o)
TEAM IN TRAINING: Holy crap. The marathon is THIS SUNDAY. Can you believe it??? I'm kind of nervous about it. I know I've trained since June, but I've been sick for the last 3 weeks, so I haven't worked out a lot. Either way, on Sunday, I'll be running 26.2 miles. Yikes!! BTW, thank you so, so much if you donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through my fundraising goal....your money is going to an amazing cause. INFOMERCIALS:Okay, I just bought "Malibu Pilates" from a Guthy-Renker infomerical. I can't believe I did that. I haven't bought anything from TV since I bought Proactiv over 9 years ago! I feel so lame. So, I need to know I'm not alone. What have YOU bought in a moment of weakness on an infomercial? Inquiring minds want to know!
We are all about MEET-N-GREETS! If you got the "Mix All Access Newsletter" in your e-mail today, you know you have a chance to meet the following peeps: Matt Nathanson, Sarah McLachlan, Colbie Callait, and Jason Mraz! Just enter the next time you log into your "My Mix" page.

Ann Sobrato High School
401 Burnett Ave.
Morgan Hill, Ca. 95037

And, because it's Friday, I'm leaving you with a mildly-innapropriate, but really, really funny, youtube video called "Chunky Pam." Enjoy!
Omg, Omg, Omg! (09.17.08)
Okay, remember the "Snoopy Auction Video" I posted in my last blog? It was a Youtube video I made in hopes of raising more money for my Team in Training fundraising minimum. Well, something SO COOL just happened! Two lovely ladies, Nina and Annee, who work for the Charles Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa ,saw the video and donated $500! They actually came to my house yesterday and "bought" half of the stuff I was trying to sell. Ladies, if you're reading this....THANK YOU! In otherTeam in Training news.....our marathon is in a MONTH! Yikes. October 19th in San Francisco. We have one more big run next Saturday, the 27th. A 20-miler. Yes, this is a TRAINING RUN. WTF???? My ankles and knees have been exceptionally weak lately. They'd better get better QUICK.
You know what else annoys me? I'm fitting my clothes way better, but not losing any weight. So, I'm trying to figure out what will work best after my marathon. What is good for "thinning" out? I'm going to count calories, but as far as working out, do you think pilates and weight training would work?
I'm sorry I'm so horrible with blogging. Ever have those days where you find time to do anything else, except the thing you're supposed to do? Ooops.....
THIS FRIDAY is our Flashback Formal at Hotel Valencia in Santana Row! Complete with 80's cover band "Fast Times." Since you're already here reading this, I'm curious: what was a fashion faux-pas you were TOTALLY guilty of in the 80's? I love, love, LOVED my crimper. My crimper, jellies, and leggings. How embarrassing!
Also.....next Wednesday is our after-work Mixer with MATT NATHANSON! He's way cool, way talented, and way funny. Plus, he's hot. Have you ever seen him perform? If so, DO TELL! Sandy@Kezr.com Keep listening for your 4 pack of invites to the show next Wednesday at Bella Mia in downtown San Jose.
Alright....before I go, I promised you I'd post this earlier this week. Better late than never!
Love,
Sandy
I Swear I'm Not Crazy
Hello dear friend!
It's hard to believe summer is almost over! I can't believe we're already in the last week of August. If I followed my directions from the beginning of the year, I'd be down about 28 pounds by now. Oops.....Have you taken at least one vacation? I certainly hope so. I was in Chicago last weekend and didn't even have time for any deep dish pizza! WTF!
Luckily, all week long between 10am-3pm, we're helping you slim down with Simply Beautiful Body Wraps! Just listen for your que to call in and win one. They're awesome!
TEAM IN TRAINING UPDATE! Okay.....it's officially LESS than 2 months from the Nike Women's Marathon. Since I'm only 1/2 way to my fundraising goal of $2,500, I've decided to do something CRAZY and auction off all of my childhood Snoopy memorabilia. So, if you're a Snoopy fan, or know someone who is, please forward this video to them! The actual link is HERE.
Mark your calander for next Thursday, September 4th....it's Metro's Music in the Park featuring the Last Goodnight! We hope to see you out there. :o)
Sandy
It's Still Summer....Right? (07.20.08)
So, yesterday my co-worker showed me pictures from her Capitola birthday weekend, and I was so jealous! There they were....a group of 10 of them, bathing-suits, beer and all. Of course, I was invited to this, but couldn't go because I was in Monterey all weekend...where I ALSO didn't end up going to the beach.
Why am I taking my anger out on you? You are just an innocent reader. Sorry.
Okay, now that that's out of the way.....be sure to be listening this week for a body wrap from SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! Yes, you hear me talking about these all the time. They work, they're refreshing, and I love them. I'm even going back next week TWICE! We also have tix to Gilroy Garden's Summer Safari as well.
Team in Training update: Well, I'm officially half-way to my fundraising goal of $2,500! That's exciting. We have another big run coming up soon......14 miles. YIKES! That's longer than I've ever run in my entire life. But I will do it. BTW, there is another kick off meeting this Saturday morning! This is where you can go, ask questions, and just get a general "feel" for what Team in Training is all about. Check it out! I'll be there.
Okay, two videos you need to check out before surfing on Ebay:
1) Here is footage from the 5.8 Earthquake in Southern California yesterday DURING a Judge Judy taping,
2) I can not STOP watching this video. Yes, it's cheesy. But it pulls at my heart strings. I like that! It's about a lion that was reunited with it's owners after a year of "living in the wild." The owners were told the lion would never remember them.....what happened was absolutely incredible:
It's a Good Day. (7.24.08)
Helllllllo dear Reader, Listener, Stalker. :o)
Working out before work is a good idea. It's not easy, but it always starts the day off right. Today I ran with Sue and Caroline from Team & Training around 6:30am. That means I got up at 5:45! Good Lord. But 4.5 miles later, I felt rejuvinated and happy to get it over with. I only had one cup of green tea today and I'm still awake!
Tonight's the big show....Metro's Music in the Park with Vanessa Carlton! Show starts at 5:30pm in Plaza de Cesear Chavez. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check the website tommorow for photos!
If you're going to the John Mayer/Colbie Callait concert on Saturday at Shoreline, have a GREAT time! I'm bummed I can't go, but when a nice hotel by the beach calls.....you can't say no. Wish I didn't have a 12 mile run this weekend! UGH. Oh well, it's mani/pedi/massage time when I get back, that's for sure. Hope the Colbie Callait mixer at the Tied House in Mtn. View is fun too! Check the website Monday for pics.
Before I go, you MUST check this out sometime over the weekend. SUPER funny- especially if you're victim to any of the multiple social networking sites out there. :o)
Have a great weekend!
35 Years From Now...I Hope to Look like THIS. (07.21.08)
Correction: I would love to look like this NOW:
Behold British Actress Helen Mirren, looking smoking hot while vacationing in Italy last week. Did I mention she's 62?!? Amazing.
Talk about embarrassing......I had an *interesting* experience this weekend. Two, actually. The first was Friday night, when I was so tipsy at my friend's Bachelorette Party in Santana Row that I straight up started feeding some waiter dessert. IN THE KITCHEN. Yes, I walked into the kitchen and started hand-feeding him carrot cake. I NEVER share my cake. And he wasn't even my waiter! How embarrassing. The second was when I was on a date on Saturday (me? date?) and my date tried to use the stamps we got at one club to get us into another. The door-guy quickly caught onto this and said, "These aren't our stamps. Get the hell out of here!" He totally yelled at us. I felt SO BAD. Like we were criminal, or people you'd see on Kron 4's "People Behaving Badly." In fact, I still feel a smidgen guilty when I think about it! Either way, I would *LOVE* to hear your embarrassing date stories. Send 'em in! sandy@kezr.com I'll use a fake name if you want me to!
If you're looking for something fun to do this week, stop by downtown San Jose's Music in the Park thisThursday! It's at Plaza de Cesar Chavez and starts at 5:30pm. We're hosting the show, it's free, and it's featuring Vanessa Carlton! She's going to stop by our studios before the show for a special meet-n-greet....make sure you're a Mix All-Access Club Member to get in on the action!
TEAM IN TRAINING UPDATE: Well, after a 9 day haitus of being sick and on vacation, I finally worked out again tonight. I'm scared to get back on track but I know it's necessary. And, as everyone on Team in Training will tell you, "Hey- it's not cancer." I have a 14 mile run this weekend at Waddell Creek in Santa Cruz. We've got some 16, 18, and 20 milers coming up too. BTW, I'm almost half-way to my fundraising goal of $2,500! PLEASE help me out, even if it's just 5 or 10 bucks. It really adds up, and it makes a big, big difference to anyone who's been diagnosed with cancer. (I'm specifically working with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.)
Okay, I've yammered enough. But before I go, I have to share this HILARIOUS Face Book parody I found on Youtube. It combines Facebook and EHarmony. Just priceless! Enjoy!
Do I Still Work Here? (7.18.08)
Hello, dear friend!
Happy Friday! It is Friday, right?
I only ask b/c this is my first day back after 3 days of being "sick." Meaning, "conjunctivitis." Meaning, Pink eye. Meaning.....WTF?? Anyway, it's gone now, but between the sick days and my vacation, I pretty much feel like I haven't been at work in 2 weeks. I can't lie....I kind of liked it. I walked in today and said to myself, "Do I still work here?" It felt foreign and a smidgen guilty.
So, since you're in weekend mode, I won't bother you with anything else, except to remind you that our big show with Vaness Carlton is next week! Thursday, July 24th, 5:30pm in Plaza De Cesear Chavez for Metro's "Music in the Park." FREE SHOW! We're hosting it, so stop by! If you're a Mix All-Access Club Member, you automatically have a chance to meet her before the show. :o)
Next week.....Movie tix on Monday, 4-packs to our Colbie Calliat Mixer on the 26th, and tickets to Sheryl Crow! Damn!!
Have a fantastic weekend. If you're one of the lucky ones to go to Napa to see Jason Mraz, have a GREAT time! Tell him I love his "chocomole" recipe. And I want to make out with him.
Love,
Sandy
It's Hot, and I'm OUT! (7.10.08)
Good LORD- it's been so hot this week. Do you have air conditioning at home? I don't, and let me tell you: it BLOWS. The only thing worse than being hot and sweaty during the day is tossing and turning in your 90-degree bedroom at night. Ugh!
At least tommorow's Friday. :o)
BTW, I will be out of town Fri-Sunday. I'm SOOOOOO excited! Once a year I go to this little hippy resort near Calistoga, where there's no phones, internet, tv, etc. Just you, nature, and healthy hippy food. I also plan to go to River Rock Casino on the way home. Hey- gotta get back into the civilian swing-o-things somehow. :o)
Team in Training update: Well, aside from the fact I'm going to miss a long run this Saturday, and am running 8 miles tonight to "make up for it," I'm okay. I'm still stressed about it, honestly. Stressed I won't raise enough money, stressed I won't be fit enough the day of the marathon, stressed I can't make it to all the trainings....stressed my knees will give out.....but I just have to take a breath and remember why I'm doing this. BTW, if you have a few bucks to spare....I'm almost half-way to my fundraising goal! Just look under my picture on this page to make a donation.
Next week.....we've got some gooooood stuff for you! Tickets to the Wedding Faire at the Santa Clara Convention Center July 19-20, "Play Hooky" tickets to see The Dark Knight on the 18th, and invitations to see Colbie Caillat at our private Mixer!!
Could I have used any uglier colors above? I don't think so.
Have a lovely weekend.
Peace OUT,
Sandy
Happy "I'm Eating Like Crap and Don't Even Care!" Weekend! (7.03.08)
I mean.....happy 4th of July!
It's been forever since I've written. I'm sorry. Two reasons, though. One, I haven't felt inspired at all. I just haven't. Everyone goes through periods like that. And two, I've been super, super busy. Blogging has been the least of my worries. (much to my boss's dismay). So, I apologize and promise to be more diligent in the future. The "future" meaning after this weekend. :o)
I can't believe it's July. Do you have any trips coming up? A listener told me the other day she was taking a 2-week cruise to Mexico. My first thought was, "2 WHOLE weeks?" Is that even legal anymore?
So, how's the whole "health" thing going for you? Are you working out? I must admit...I'm into a month of Team and Training "training" and am feeling much more energetic. Granted, it's a big commitment, but I need to focus on my health. The cause is great too! In fact, I just sent out an e-mail last night about the cause, and I would like to thank the following people for DONATING TO MY FUNDRAISING PAGE!!!
Georgia P.
David P.
Erika J.
Brian J.
Robert A.
Susan A.
Jillian K.
MOM AND DAD!
Okay, let's face it: if I write any more, are you really going to read it? It's too sunny outside to worry about that. So, until the next time, here's a GREAT song that is a perfect, fun, upbeat party song for your 4th of July festivities!
Happy Friday! (6.13.08)
Happy Friday! I know I said it in the headline, but THAT'S how excited I am that it's the weekend.
Since we're probably both not in the mood to work, I've provided a couple cool videos I think you'll enjoy.
Second....have you heard Journey's new front-man? This dude is AMAZING. What's even cooler is that he's from the Philippines, and when he talks he has the cutest little accent! (something you'd never guess if you heard him sing.)
Team in Training:I have to best honest with you....this week kicked my ASS. It was our first week of "training" and let me tell you: my body was NOT ready for it. They say it takes 3 weeks for your body to adjust....I'm hoping the next 2 go by QUICK. And you know what REALLY sucks? I'm heavier. I worked out 5 days this week, burned more calories than I ate, and I'm heavier. What the s*** is that???
On a happy note......next week we're giving away Body Wraps from Simply Beautiful every day! And, on Tuesday, we're broadcasting LIVE from Disneyland!
Have a lovely weekend,
Sandy
P.S. If you're in the Sacramento area this weekend, I'm hosting at the Sacramento Punchline tonight, Saturday and Sunday night. John Heffron from Last Comic Standing is the headliner!
Got Fitness on the Brain.....(6.11.08)
It's June 11th, 2008. If I actually followed through with my diet and weight loss plan I wrote in January, I'd be about 20 pounds lighter by now. Well, that DIDN'T happen. I ran the SF Kaiser 1/2 Marathon in February, and at that point, lost 11 pounds. Then I got lazy, and a little depressed, and back came the weight! So now, I'm starting back on square one. Ever been there?
All we can do is keep moving forward. Which is why, every time I blog, I will have a separate section of my blog dedicated entirely to Team in Training. I'm training for the Nike Women's Marathon in October, and meeting with these wonderful people on a weekly basis. Quite frankly, I'm getting my ass kicked. But as the honorees tell us at our meets, "Hey- at least it's not cancer." (We're raising money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.)
ANYWAY.....since fitness is on the brain, so is nutrition. Since I love anything that comes from a bakery (cookies, cakes, blondies, pastries, etc.) I'm wondering if you have any websites you can recommend for Gluten-free products. (wheat-free/dairy-free.) I would REALLY appreciate it! As far as I know it, I'm not gluten-intolerant, but I do think gluten-free products are better for me. Speaking of delicious, here's a recipe for "Chocomole". It's a chocolate-mousse made with guacamole. I got it from Jason Mraz!
Chocomole: (serves 4)
* Mash up 5 ripened avocados
* add 1-2 cups of chopped or blended dates
* 1 soft cup or faw cacao
* 1 easy cup of raw carob powder
* 1 tbsp. vanilla
Add a few long pours of agave nectar to sweeten to liking. Then add half cups of cocoa and keep adding until chocolate taste is right. Careful not to overdo it--if you add too much, it can get bitter.
We STILL have $1000 of free gas per day this week to giveaway! Be sure to be listening in the 9am, 10am, 11am and 12pm hours (top of the hour) for YOUR name to be called so you can win up to a grand in free gas!
I also have family four packs of tickets to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo's Ice Cream Zoofari (June 21st) and pairs ot tickets to California's Great America. All week long!
Okay- I've got to go work out AGAIN. I'm sure when I'm a pants-size down I won't be complaining about it. :o)
With natural sweetener,
Sandy
Best.Quote.Ever. (06.04.08)
I would like to dedicate this blog to my new friend Laura House- a comedian I met at Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club last Thursday. I was talking to her about things I've been wanting to do, and something she said really struck a chord with me:
"Stop getting in your own way."
So briliant, so true. There are several things in my life I haven't done because I felt I wasn't "ready." Or "good enough." Or..."perfect." I put so much pressure on myself that I ended up not doing it at all. After she said that, I've given myself a break and realized, "Hey- you've got to start somewhere."
This goes hand-in-hand with the Nike Women's Marathon I'll be running in October. 26.2 Miles. What if I can't "run" the whole thing? What if it's just too much? What if I can't raise enough money? I just have to try.
My goal is to raise $2,500 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Will you help me out? I would be SO thankful! Click HERE to donate.
We STILL have George Michael tickets to give away....June 19th at the HP Pavilion! All week long.
And....next week, we're giving away $1,000 of FREE GAS a day. Make sure you are a member of the Mix All Access Club so you can qualify!
In other news.....Looks like it's Obama vs. McCain! I can't WAIT for November. What do you hope will change when we elect our new president?
Chat soon,
Sandy
Sex, Weight, Food, and Stress. (06.02.08)
Man, I felt like a TOTAL girl this weekend.
First off- did you see Sex in the City? I saw it opening night at Santana Row....man, what a spectacle! First- the pre-party, with appetizers and drinks. It was SO cute to see all the ladies go all out....high-heels, silk tank-tops, cute dresses, big jewely, etc.... Especially considering it was FREEZING outside. But we didn't care. We looked pretty, and that's all that mattered. :o)
The movie itself was pretty damn good. I left thinking, "Why is it over so soon?" Granted, I was a *little* bored with parts of it...Jennifer Hudson's character was super dull (to me), some of the Big stuff was predictable, I wanted more from Samantha, etc. But overall, I was happy with it.
The Team in Training official kick-off meeting was on Saturday in Foster City....man, this is going to be SUCH a good experience for me. I'm happy to be part of something greater than me. Something that centers itself around giving, support, and love. It's very humbling. We had a couple guest speakers- both of which have had boughts with cancer- and I cried the whole time. I wish I could stop crying already. But I think it's that little voice in me that says, "It's time to do something good." It's not too late to sign up for an event, btw. You even get a trial period of 8 weeks to decide if you really can or want to do it.
Another reason the Team in Training thing is awesome....it's a GREAT work-out. Lately, I've been obsessed with people who've physically transformed themselves. (significant weight loss) I think I'm doing this because subconsciously I'm ready to change- for good. Not just 5-10 pounds, either. We're talking 40-50. I don't look like I need to lose it, but trust me- I hide it well. Today I'm obessed with THESE transformations on the Oprah website!
In other news.....we've got George Michael tickets all week! The concert is June 19th at the HP Pavilion at San Jose.
And.....make sure you're a member of the Mix All Access Club PRONTO. We'll be giving away $1,000 FREE GAS very, very soon...
Until manana...or Wednesday if I'm lazy.....
Sandy ;o)
Welcome Back! (5.27.08)
So.....how was your Memorial weekend? Do you feel relaxed and rejuvinated? Did you catch up on some things? Or maybe you saw "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?" My friend saw it and texted me, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of S***." Obviously, he didn't like it. But everyone I've talked to seems to have liked it.
My birthday was yesterday, so Sat-Sun-Mon we went to Reno. "We" meaning my parents, and best friend. WE TOOK A BUS. Remind me to NEVER take a bus to Reno again. (It was a tour package thingy.) Our first driver had a lazy eye, and it was SNOWING on the way up! On the way back there was a huge accident and our driver was CRAZY. Also, since it was raining the entire weekend, my feet were freezing since I only brought sandals. However, I had a great time, with highlights including:
* Midnight ice-cream sundaes at the origianl Mel's Drive-in.
* Gambling, gambling, gambling! (I even played blackjack at the tables. Yikes!)
* AMAZING massage at the Siena Hotel. If you're in Reno, book a treatment there. They have a "serendipity room" with free wine, chocolate, and champage. MMMMMM!
* Having an African American man say, "Wassup Lil Mama, I like your style" when he walked by me. Priceless.
* A hilarious waiter at the Silver Legacy that wrapped my trip up on a witty, joyful note. Hello Bill! :o)
Okay, enough about me!
We've got all KINDS of cool stuff for you this week, including: tickets to our after-work Mixer with Ferras (5/28), tickets to Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club for "Laugh for Life" (5/29) and tickets to see George Michael on 6/19 at the HP! Sweet!!!!
And, since it's technically Monday (feels like one), here's the latest video from Weezer that is the number one video on Youtube right now. It's called "Pork and Beans" and it features tons of Youtube "classics" from other videos. Check it out!
Have a lovely day.....
Sandy
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
OMG...3 DAYS IN A ROW. This is so exciting! Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Beach? BBQ? Catching up on all the other things in life? Dare I ask.....sleeping in???
I'm going to Reno for the weekend. On a BUS. And even though it's kind of white trash, I'm excited about it. Plus, it's my birthday. So in addition to gambling and splurging (a little bit!), my friend booked us both a massage at this nice hotel called Siena! When you book a treatment there you're allowed to use all the other things as well...work out room, jacuzzi, wine and cheese room, etc. Can we say STOKED???
I went to my first Team in Training info meeting this week. I have to say....I'm REALLY feeling good about this. I was very hesitant at first. Worried about having the time, raising money, wondering if I could physically do it, etc. But man...these people are SO incredibly warm, humble, and supportive. I did a comedy gig last weekend and met a woman who was also a member of TNT, and she said, "Sandy- you'll be surrounded by good people all the time, because they've all been humbled..." And that's all it took. I'm sure seeing a really CUTE mentor at the meeting didn't hurt either. Man, how am I supposed to concentrate on the cause if there's hot guys everywhere???
But seriously- it's such a great thing to be involved in. Want to join me May 31st in Foster City? It's the big kick-off meeting! Oh, and btw, if you choose to sign up for an event, they give you a 5-8 week period to "try" it out. If you feel you are unable to do it, physically, financially, etc; you have every right to back out, no questions asked. I really liked that. Nobody wants to do anything they feel pressured into.
Sorry to go on and on about all this "good cause" and "fitness" stuff. I guess I'm at a point in my life right now where I realize I'm changing. I am not doing this event (the Nike women's Marathon) because I want to...I'm doing it because I need to. I am ready to make fitness and nutrition a part of my life. I'm ready to take responsibility for what I eat. I'm ready to work it off and work towards my goals. 2008 will be a changing year for me...I can just feel it.
Let's hope I have that same motivation at the buffets this weekend......
And HERE'S what you have to look forward to next week:
* GEORGE MICHAEL TICKETS! (6/19 at the HP Pavilion)
* Four packs of tickets to our afterwork Mixer (5/28) featuring FERRAS!
* Pairs of tickets to "Laugh for Life" comedy show at Rooster T. Feathers! (5/29)
And don't forget....SEX IN THE CITY premieres on Friday!!!! The ONLY way in to our pre-party and screening is by being a member of the Mix All Access Club! (sign up on the homepage.) We'll start picking winners next week!!!!
Love and hugs,
Sandy
Mix Listeners RULE.
Man, yesterday was a FUN day on-air. I asked listeners how to politely let a man know you're not interested in him, if he asks you out via e-mail. I recieved a phone call from "Jack" that sent listeners into HYSTERICS. Listen for yourself! Oh, and THANK YOU for your sweet calls and e-mails. I heart you.
We just started playing the new Rhianna/Maroon 5 song, "If I Never See Your Face Again." It's SUPER sexy. Click HERE to watch the video!
Okay. You need a night out. Without the kids, the co-workers (except the cool ones) ect. So May 29th (Thursday) we are having a SPECIAL COMEDY NIGHT at Rooster T. Feathers in Sunnyvale. I'm hosting and I promise to make fun of things that are South-Bay and dumb co-worker related. It's also a celebration for Team in Training saving lives for 20 YEARS. Wow! So, listen all week long- I've got your tix!
I've also got 4 packs to tix to see the San Jose Earthquakes game THIS Thursday against the Houston Dynamo!
Fill you in tommorow. I'm hosting trivia night at Brittania Arms off Almaden tonight....it's free and starts at 7:30pm. Stop by!
Sandy
P.S. I almost ate an entire bag of chocolate/cranberry/nuts trail mix from Trader Joe's last night. BAD.
Friday Video FUN!
Okay, it's too hot to do anything except surf the web for good Youtube videos. And you're in LUCK! Check out this CREEPY one I found with Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse. (He just uploaded it today.) It seriously is the most disturbing thing I've seen in a long time. In reality, it's him and Amy playing with newborn animals. What it really feels like though, is an LSD flashback. Yikes!
Crack kills!
Almost as bad is the New Kids on the Block performance on the Today Show today. WOW. I really wanted to get excited about this. I really did. But it was just painful to watch, and listen to. Decide for yourself!
Painful, hah?
Well, I hope you have a FANASTIC weekend. Remember your sunscreen if you're out and about. Seriously. And...Saturday, May 17th, I'm performing in a very special benefit that YOU are invited to! It's a comedy/music/buffet extravaganza at the Cedar House Restaruant in Hollister. (I'm performing for 30 minutes!) My friend Lisa organized it to raise money for Team in Training. Click HERE to read the details, and call the Cedar House to make reservations! (831-636-1094).
Before I go, I would like to take a Mix listeners Survey regarding the new Mariah Carey/Nick Canon nuptials.
What are your thoughts on Mariah Carey's recent wedding announcement?
1) Awesome! I'm happy for her/them.
2) I've giving it 2 years. 5 Max.
3) Who cares?
Alright. You, my dear, have a lovely weekend. Catch up with you on Monday!
Kisses,
Sandy
Bad Angles Killed the Cat.
I'm so annoyed that people are calling Lily Allen "fat." Some pictures have surfaced of her vacationing in the French Riviera topless. (Go Lily!) First of all...when you're in the Riviera, sunbathing topless is what you do. Women don't wear tops, and men wear small, tight speedos. Totally standard. What I'm finding a problem with, though, is how many people are calling Lily Allen "fat" when it's clear she only looks a little chubby in one photo. It was a bad angle. I wish people would just get over it and get used to a woman who actually looks like a WOMAN!
Good Angle:
Bad Angle:
See what I mean?
In other news, it's hot as HELL. Click HERE to view a link of South Bay Cooling Centers open through Friday!
BTW, there's a very special comedy and charity event going on this Saturday in Hollister! And yours truly will be performing! If you'd like to view the evite with all the details, click HERE. If you can make it, call the Cedar House restaurant and make a restaurant and reserve a spot! (831-636-1094) Comedy! Food! Music! Yeeeeah!
And don't forget.....Team in Training will have it's official kick-off meeting May 31st. If you haven't signed up for an event, if you have ANY questions (trust me- I've asked them all. Some of my questions were really shallow, too.) come to an info meeting! Click HERE to see the schedule! I'm going to the one on May 21st in Los Gatos.
Alright.....I'm exhausted. For no reason at all.
Love,
Sandy
(5.13.08) People Going Postal- Part 1
So, everybody is talking about this Bill O Reilly clip from Inside Edition. (not sure how many years ago it was) Basically, he freaks out. And it's HILARIOUS. But part of me actually related to him! I've been on that side of the camera before, when nothing is communicated with you, and you wind up looking like an idiot because of it. Now, I'm not sure I would have gone ape-**** crazy, but I would have come close. Watch and enjoy! (btw..towards the end he's swearing a lot...be volume-conscious if you're at work!)
So, if you've been thinking about/wondering about or curious about Team in Training, click HERE. That is a link to all their info meetings coming up! I'm going to the one next Wednesday (21st) at Los Gatos High School. Who's with me?
This Thursday and Friday I'll have 4-packs of tickets to the San Jose Earthquakes!
BTW....there's a VERY special show going on at the San Jose Improv thisWednesday, May 14th. It's a benefit for some local cops who have created "Cops Care Cancer Foundation." They're trying to raise money for families who have children with cancer. PLEASE come to our show! (I'm hosting.) It's 20 bucks to get in and it's 100% tax deductible. Doors open at 6, show starts at 8. Click HERE for more info!
Hugs,
Sandy
P.S. Do you have any recommendations for really bad sinus headaches? I have Clariton D and it's not working. I'm REALLY getting tired of this! Bonus points for natural remedies.
